Very interesting article from Jonah Keri at Grantland on the next big Cuban star. Some video game numbers. He's only 24, two years younger then Cespedes. Might be one of the last areas for the Bucs to exploit a market inefficiency.
I was hoping to see some chat about what's going on in ST. I've seen a couple of people post about having seen this or that in random threads, and I was hoping we could pull in some discussion. The linked article is from Kristy Robinson's coverage of ST. I noticed the quote below, although it doesn't mean much in the scheme of things:
"Josh Harrison saw time at shortstop today, and both Nick Evans and Matt Hague were at third during batting practice. Also during BP, Hague hit back-to-back bombs out of the field to left. One of them actually hit the palm tree and a piece fall off."
A nice short piece from Bleacher Report (no, really) about Lincoln's predicament coming into spring training. Has some interesting information about his post-draft handling by the Pirates, in case you need another reason to hate Dave Littlefield.
Not the St. Louis starter, but a bullpen arm. PTBNLs will also be swapped.
Somehow this dragged out even longer than the A.J. Burnett trade.
This is arguably one of the strangest things I've ever seen. WTM is quoted in this article, and it's one of the most accurate summations of his managerial capabilities I've ever seen. Apparently, Tracy has more photos of Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd than Pedro Ciriaco had of Clint Hurdle.
"It's going to be a fresh start," Burnett said. "It's going to be fun. I'm going back to the National League, where I can hit and bunt and get the joy back into the game."
Clint's gonna love this guy
